The mission and calling of The Mercy House can even be found within the place that we meet. We are located in the old Shadeland Elementary—a former school situated on the west side of Anderson. In a city marked by all-too-clear divisions of race and socioeconomic status, it's important for us to be missional in breaking these barriers.
Our current space allows us to challenge these divides by our presence in this place—focusing on the hard work of intentional, long-term ministry in our neighborhood in the hopes of pursuing reconciliation. A building is just a start and there is much more work to do, but it's an important first step.
